Here at Lockaway Storage, we know our success is due to our wonderful team. The care they give our renters is unparalleled and we want to highlight their milestones along the way. Below is an interview with San Antonio team member Damien who is celebrating his 1-year anniversary with Lockaway Storage this week. All interviews are performed by Peter Soto.

Peter: How did you start working in self storage?
Damien: It wasn’t a decision to work in ‘self storage’ per se, but I do have a management/customer service background, and I felt that I had the right qualifications to make a positive contribution to the team.
Peter: What’s the best thing you’ve learned while working for Lockaway Storage?
Damien: If I’ve learned anything, it’s that all people truly can come together under the same banner. We look different, talk different, believe different, but we’re all committed to providing the same quality of customer service to each and every person that calls, emails or walks through our doors. I think that says a lot about Lockaway Storage.
Peter: What is your favorite self storage story?
Damien:I can’t say that I have any favorite self storage stories, but there have been many days where it felt good to be in my chair. For example, days where I was able to set someone at ease and make their moving and/or storage experience less stressful, to days where tenants entered my office with a particular grievance and left my office cheerful, knowing they were heard, and confident that we would do everything necessary to address the issue.
Peter: What are your hobbies when you aren’t at your facility?
Damien: I’m a musician, a gamer, a reader. I love cooking and exploring new restaurants. I love the beach, traveling in general and I’m a glutton for good conversation over the right cup of coffee.
Peter: What’s your favorite thing to do in San Antonio?
Damien: Leave it! But it’s always nice to come back home!
Peter:What’s your favorite restaurant in San Antonio?
Damien: That would definitely be Guajillos. I suggest you try it! It’s unique and flavorful. There isn’t another restaurant like it in San Antonio, at least that I know of.
Peter: Would you like to give a shout-out to anybody?
Damien: Yes! I’d like to give a shout-out to Ashley, the assistant manager here at De Zavala. She is reliable, consistently does a remarkable job and is knowledgeable about the services and products we provide. What more could you ask for in a team member?
